Some secrets were meant to stay hidden… Trust no-one
After an operation goes badly wrong, undercover specialist Detective Caelan Small leaves the Metropolitan Police for good. Or so she thinks. Then the criminal responsible is seen back in the UK.
Soon Caelan is drawn back into a dangerous investigation. But when the main lead is suddenly murdered, all bets are off. Nothing is as it seems. Everyone is a suspect – even close colleagues.
Someone in the Met is involved and Caelan is being told to Ask No Questions.
This isn’t an option: Caelan needs answers… whatever the cost.
The nerve-shredding new crime thriller from bestseller Lisa Hartley starts a must-read new series. Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons and Robert Bryndza, it will keep you guessing until the very end.
Lisa Hartley lives with her partner, son, two dogs and several cats. She graduated with a BA (Hons) in English Studies, then had a variety of jobs but kept writing in her spare time. In addition to this new series with Canelo she is also working on the next DS Catherine Bishop novel.
Give me a good thriller book and I’m one happy lady and Lisa Hartley definitely didn’t let me down!
Ask No Questions is based around Detective Caelan Small, having quitting her job after her last assignment was screwed up she vowed never to go back to the job that took some much away from her…. until people start to raise questions, questions that Caelan has been asking herself and just can’t seem to answer…. this is what gripped me!
Caelan was my favourite character of the book, she’s totally relatable as in she has flaws like us all and sometimes, just sometimes things don’t got as the should…. like life itself. I loved that she said things as they were and didn’t sugar coat anything, much to the annoyance to some of her colleagues.
I enjoyed the shock introduction of Ewan, he always wanted to please Caelan no matter how crazy or odd her requests were at times.
I found this book a pretty quick read and found myself not putting it down much. It has plenty of plot twists, some that i weren’t expecting!! There were a couple of times when the pace of the book seemed to slow right down but I’m an impatient and i want everything to happen there and then :’) can i also go on record by saying that the Epilogue………. WTF?!! Lisa, i just….. i had to put the book down and come back to it 10 minutes later….awesome…. twisted but awesome!!
All in all a great read from a new to me author, i look forward to more books with Caelan and hopefully Ewan.
