#BookTour #Review #TheGirlWithNoName by @lisalregan @bookouture

Happy Release Day Lisa Regan!! I can not tell you how happy I am that we get to delve back into Josie Quinn’s life and it’s definitely not slowed down since the last book. Now let’s get the formalities out of the way with the cover, blurb and a peek into Lisa’s life…

Title:              The Girl With No Name

Author:          Lisa Regan

book blurb

Detective Josie Quinn is horrified when she’s called to the house of a mother who had her newborn baby snatched from her arms.

A woman caught fleeing the scene is Josie’s only lead, but when questioned it seems this mysterious girl doesn’t know who she is, where she’s from or why she is so terrified…

Is she a witness, a suspect, or the next victim?

As Josie digs deeper, a letter about a mix-up at a fertility clinic links the nameless girl and the missing child to a spate of killings across the county. Josie is faced with an impossible decision: should she risk the life of one innocent child to save many others… or can she find another way?

The Girl With No Name is nail-biting, twisty and impossible to put down. If you love gripping thrillers from Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine, you’ll be hooked.

What can I say other than

I should also at this point apologise to Lisa, while reading book 1 I bombarded her with multiple tweets about her book but with this one I was radio silent, I think she thought I didn’t enjoy her book…. I was that engrossed within it’s pages that time seemed to slip away and by the time I came too it’s release day and my turn to review! So heres hoping my review shows just how much i enjoyed The Girl With No Name.

Lisa Regan certainty knows how to keep you hooked. After reading book 1 at the end of last year I wasn’t expecting another book from her so soon, so I was extremely excited when I found out that book 2 was on it’s way and she hasn’t taken her foot off the gas!! This book is just…. I have no words!

Ok, that’s a little lie but there’s so much I want to chat about I don’t want to put my foot in it with any kind of spoilers!

Quinn is back, there’s a missing baby and the mother happens to be a woman who Josie has a history with, I think she’d rather push this case to aside if it weren’t for the missing child (and I wouldn’t blame her!)

I love Joise (if you read book 1’s review then you’ll know how much I love her) she still the same, take no crap, down to earth and get the job done character that we met in book 1.

Book 2 is action packed, with so many people in the “Whodunit” chair my mind was on free fall, everyone was a suspect at one point 😂 I loved the twists and turns of the plot and I was always telling myself just 1 more page, just one more chapter. I needed to see where Lisa was leading me, who the bad guys turned out to be and who were the unlikely suspects…. cos there’s always a few!

It truly is a mind boggling, gripping read and one that I will be recommnding to many of my friends in the days and weeks to come!

Very easily earned, 5 golden apples 😀

Make sure you check out thw other stops on this fab book tour!

Cormac is a new to me author and I hope to see a lot more of him in my bookish future!

Black Water is his first novel, based in Dublin in what I’m guessing the darkest corners, with their gangs, crime and drugs this book is certain to open your eyes. Gripped from the get go Cormac has a very detailed read that jumps right into the nitty gritty and shows his years of knowledge in the field.

I was fully engrossed in this book and finished within only a couple of days. My eyes were opened at how easily people are sucked into gang life and how ruthless the drug lords can be….. truly terrifying at times!

Its dark, edgy and at some points it made me shudder but I truly loved every page and some of those pages with stay with me forever!

If you enjoy your crime books dark then I highly recommnd Black Water….. maybe read it with the lights on!!

The Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay Cover.jpgThe Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay

by Nicola May

book blurb

Rosa Larkin is down on her luck in London, so when she inherits a near-derelict corner shop in a quaint Devon village, her first thought is to sell it for cash and sort out her life. But nothing is straightforward about this legacy.  While the identity of her benefactor remains a mystery, he – or she – has left one important legal proviso: that the shop cannot be sold, only passed on to somebody who really deserves it.

Rosa makes up her mind to give it a go: to put everything she has into getting the shop up and running again in the small seaside community of Cockleberry Bay. But can she do it all on her own? And if not, who will help her succeed – and who among the following will work secretly to see her fail?

There is a handsome rugby player, a sexy plumber, a charlatan reporter and a selection of meddling locals. Add in a hit and run incident and the disappearance of a valuable engraved necklace – and what you get is a journey of self-discovery and unpredictable events.

With surprising and heartfelt results, Rosa, accompanied at all times by her little sausage dog Hot, will slowly unravel the shadowy secrets of the inheritance, and also bring her own, long-hidden heritage into the light.

Welcome to the coastal town of Cockleberry Bay where everyone knows everyone and everyone knows your business, it of a shocker for London girl Rosa!

This is not my usual read but I really did need a change in my reading genre and this book for the bill to a T! I really enjoyed getting to know Rosa’s story, I loved her attitude towards life and her lack of filter from brain to mouth…. which got her into got water a handful if times. I was rooting for her the whole time with showing the locals that an outsider can add to their village, I enjoyed watching her friendship crow with Titch, Queenie and The owners of The Lobster Pot (I also liked seeing Hit make his own little group of doggy friends too!)

A fun, romantic story with a handful of secrets revealed within it’s pages, a must read for lovers of light hearted happily ever after books!

Harvey Church

Harvey Church has a background in finance, which is how he found himself writing about the people and ridiculousness (sometimes the same thing) of that field in his Edwin Burrows light mystery series. Although he considers himself retired from that field (aka not working), he’s planning another three Edwin Burrows novels for 2018.

His first “serious” novel, The Last Friend, is a Kindle Scout writing competition winner and was published by Kindle Press on January 9, 2018. The BookLife Prize called it “an entertaining read for mystery and thriller fans alike,” and said it is “an unexpected and exciting series of events that will grab readers.” Harvey plans two sister novels to The Last Friend in 2018, one titled The Last Night (Spring 2018) and the other tentatively titled The Last Survivor.

For fun, Harvey likes to practice street magic and spends hours engineering tricks to wow his audiences. He is also an avid hockey fan (Go Leafs Go). He has a wife and two kids. His favorite color is blue, but he drives a black car because he read somewhere, back in the 90’s, that radar detectors have a tough time seeing them. Interestingly, he never speeds because he’s too busy singing like nobody’s watching, or maybe it’s that everybody is deaf.

He’s a supporter of double-chins, double-dates, and double-dipping (though never on double-dates), and obviously enjoys writing about himself in the third person, in the voice of the narrator from The Royal Tenenbaums.

Connect with Harvey Church by searching Harvey Church Mysteries on Facebook, at @hashtag_harv on Instagram, and @harveychurch1 on Twitter.

You can also find him wandering the streets of Chicago, Toronto, Montreal or the Lido deck of a Princess Cruise ship. If you ever meet Harv, ask to see a magic trick!

review by nicola

So this happens to be Harvey’s first “serious” book and can I just say you’d never know!

The story revolves around Donovan and the unsolved case of his missing daughter, which sets for a twisty turn read…. especially when purpled hair and full of attitude Monica Russell turns up on his door step claiming to have been in captivity with his daughter. My first thoughts….. Yeah right! Total con artist wanting money from a guy that was clinging onto the sliver of hope and I think anyone in his position would. At times I wanted to tell at Donovan to “get a grip!” I felt like he was taking every word this girl, who he’d know for a whole five seconds, for the truth and at times I felt like she was making most of it up! Playing up to his emotions which he wore on his sleeve.

This book is certainly action packed, with many twists and turns along the way. My mind was always ticking over with the plot and where Harvey was leading us, it definitely kept you thinking and I was always on my toes!

I’m looking forward to seeing where this story goes with books 2 & 3.

A very solid 4 golden apples from me!

review by nicola

I’ve jumped right into the Titan books with #4 (I’ll admit I didn’t realise it was so far into the series so I do feel I have missed so points in this story but not to the point where I felt lost within it’s pages)

The story revolves around William and Hannah, trying to break into the sex slave world and save as many as they can. While Hannah comes across as a ‘do everything by the book’ investigator, William is more of a ‘do now, think later’ kinda guy and that’s what I loved about him, he wore his heart on his sleeve and didn’t like to sit around and wait. This due balanced each other out perfectly.

The story is slow to begin with, I felt that the author wanted to set the scene and give the reader as many details as he could before this story exploded….. and exploded it did! Once the action started it never let up, I held my breathe a few times and had scenarios playing in my head if where I thought the author was leading me, don’t try to guess because you won’t amd thats what kept me gripped.

A well thought out, planned and extremely put together read that has definitely had me adding the other books to my TBR pile 😀
