The Dirty dozen BY LYNDA LA PLANTE | #TENNISON #TEAMTENNISON @LAPLANTELYNDA @SIMONANDSCHUSTER @ZAFFREBOOKS @TR4CYF3NT0N

April 1980 and Jane is the first female detective to be posted to the Met’s renowned Flying Squad, commonly known as the ‘Sweeney’. Based at Rigg Approach in East London, they investigate armed robberies on banks, cash in transit and other business premises.Jane thinks her transfer is on merit and is surprised to discover she is actually part of a short term internal experiment, intended to have a calming influence on a team that likes to dub themselves as the ‘Dirty Dozen’.The men on the squad don’t think a woman is up to the dangers they face when dealing with some of London’s most ruthless armed criminals, who think the only ‘good cop’ is a dead cop. Determined to prove she’s as good as the men, Jane discovers from a reliable witness that a gang is going to carry out a massive robbery involving millions of pounds. But she doesn’t know who they are, or where and when they will strike . . .

It’s good to be back with Jane and the squad, and as always Jane is rearing to go at full speed and prove her worth. I do love her attitude, wanting to prove herself all the time ( I worked in a all male environment and it is hard!).

I felt this book read differently than the previous books, there were a lot more police words, some I had to Google, some I had to re read to make sure I got the gist and I felt this took away my reading enjoyment…… don’t get me wrong, it’s a cracking read – action packed, twisty and turny, but too much police detail (for me personally).

I’ve enjoyed watching Jane develop as a person, growing with confidence in both her personal and work life. She does fall back into her younger ways every now and then but I’ve become used to this and feel that’s what is making me grow to love her.

A great addition to the Tennison series, let’s see what La Plante throws at Tennison next!
